The Hario coffee grinder range (or mills as they call them) is extensive. We offer the Mini slim+ and the Skerton. The main difference between them is the amount of coffee they can grind into their grinds container.

Ceramic burrs

All the Hario manual coffee grinders use burrs made of ceramic. Ceramic burrs are known for reducing the transfer of heat to the bean. Also, they shave the coffee bean versus cracking the bean like blade grinders. This process provides a more consistent grind that can easily be adjusted and set for repeat use.

Both these grinders are burr grinders. Quaffee only offers burr grinders. It is important to note that these grinders are designed for coffee.

Which one for me

Choosing which Hario coffee grinder is best for you is a matter of determining your use. If you are using the grinder while travelling than the mini-mill (24g) is the one to go for. However, if it is for standard home use the Skerton (100g) gives you more flexibility with dose. Both the grinders have a similar grinding ability.

Mini mill+ upgrades

the Mini mill and Skerton have been upgraded. The new features are:

  • Ceramic external and internal burrs (the old version was ceramic internal)
  • New handle design (clips on better and can be “hung” next to the grinder
  • Darker plastic at the bottom, with clearer markings.

Additional Skerton upgrades

The main upgrade has been the addition of the Bean lid.

Pro versions

The pro versions of the Hario grinders add stainless steel to the mix. This means the chassis (slim version), and handle are now made from stainless steel. The slim also gets a silicone bean cover, like the Skerton has. Also, the Pro version of the slim has a different detachment mechanism (i.e. it does not screw off, it pulls off).
